Structure of the Australian high school
In Australia, high school is divided into two main cycles:
• Junior High School (Year 7–10): Here students follow a required curriculum, designed to provide
solid foundations in a wide range of subjects.
• Senior High School (Year 11–12): The final two years are focused on preparation for graduation and
access to university or the world of work. Students have greater freedom in choosing subjects.
The equivalent of the Italian high school diploma is the Senior Secondary Certificate of Education, which varies slightly in name and regulation depending on the Australian state (e.g. VCE in Victoria, HSC in New South Wales).

A PERSONALIZED PATH TO GROW IN SAFETY
The Australian school year follows a different calendar from the Italian one:
• Start: Late January or early February.
• End: Mid-December.
It is divided into four quarters (terms), with 2 weeks of vacation between one term and another and a longer summer break in December-January.

SUMMER PROGRAMS
The evaluation system is continuous and mixed:
• Written tests and exams: They constitute a part of the evaluation.
• Practical work and projects: Highly appreciated, especially in technical and artistic subjects.
• Final Score: Students receive a score based on their final year results, which determines
access to university (e.g. ATAR – Australian Tertiary Admission Rank).
