FRANCE

SPEND A SEMESTER OR ACADEMIC YEAR IN IRELAND: A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE FULL OF OPPORTUNITIES

France is a country that offers a variety of unique experiences, from the vibrant city life of Paris to the relaxed atmospheres of small Provençal villages, from the natural beauty of the Alps and the Côte d'Azur to the art and history that permeate every corner of the country.
One of the most fascinating aspects of living in France is the possibility of immersing yourself in its rich and diverse culture, engaging with a multicultural society, which helps you develop a broader worldview and cultivate greater open-mindedness. You have the opportunity to explore iconic places such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre or Mont Saint-Michel, but also to discover lesser-known treasures, such as local markets, traditional festivals and less touristy cities. Another significant element is the French lifestyle, which invites you to enjoy small daily pleasures: a walk in well-kept parks, the slower pace of cities compared to many international metropolises. This approach to life can offer a new perspective and inspire more balanced habits.

Structure of the French high school

The French high school is divided into three years:

• Second year (equivalent to second year of high school in Italy): it is the first year of the high school cycle and is common to everyone
the students.
• Première (upper third): students choose a specific field of study, such as science
(Scientifique, S), literature and philosophy (Littéraire, L), or economics and social (Economique et Social, ES)..
• Terminal (upper fourth): it is the final year, dedicated to the in-depth study of the subjects of
specialization and preparation for the Baccalauréat (Bac).

A PERSONALIZED PATH TO GROW IN SAFETY

Compulsory subjects include:

• French (language and literature)
• Mathematics
• History and Geography
• Sciences (biology, physics, chemistry)
• Foreign languages (usually two)
• Civic and moral education
• Physical and sports education

Students also choose specialization subjects, such as arts, economics or computer science, which become the focus of their studies in the final two years.

SUMMER PROGRAMS

Students are assessed through written assignments, oral questions and projects.

The evaluation system is based on a scale from 0 to 20, where 10 is sufficient.

At the end of high school, students take the Baccalauréat, a national exam that includes written and oral tests. The Bac is crucial for accessing university and is divided into various types, such as Bac Général, Bac Technologique and Bac Professionnel.

DUAL DIPLOMA

French student life is dynamic, with many extracurricular activities offered by schools, such as sports, art and debate clubs. Students enjoy extended lunch breaks and common spaces to socialize. The school places a lot of emphasis on developing critical thinking and student autonomy.

UNIVERSITY ORIENTATION

The French school system promotes inclusiveness through support programs for students with special educational needs and disabilities.

THE MEASURE OF INTELLIGENCE IS THE ABILITY TO CHANGE

Unlike the Italian system, characterized by specific courses such as classical, scientific and artistic high school, the French system offers students greater flexibility in choosing subjects. The school year in France has a similar length to the Italian one, but school days tend to be generally longer.
